The Tennessee Arts Commission has recently partnered with POBA, a non-profit online hub that showcases, promotes, and preserves the creative legacies of exceptional under-recognized artists in all media. Working with State Arts Councils and other arts organizations, POBA gives deserved recognition to Heritage artists and the arts in each state. Starting in May, POBA will showcase some of the remarkable musical legacies of TN’s honored folk musicians.
POBA also gives tangible help to working artists, families, and collectors to manage their collections for future preservation, viewing, and value. For example, the three short clips below on copyright laws are part of a presentation by Greg Cram, Associate Director of Copyright and Information Policy at The New York Public Library. It is our hope that the material presented is helpful to working artists. We will continue to post relevant content from POBA going forward.
POBA is the pronounced form of phowa, a Tibetan phrase that captures the power of the arts to transform human experience and understanding. If you can use POBA’s hope with a collection or want to nominate a legacy artist for recognition on POBA, contact them at concierge@poba.org.
