I’m very pleased to announce that the Tennessee Person-Centered Music Program was awarded the 2022 Middle Tennessee Aging Innovation Award at the 2022 TN Federation for the Aging Annual Conference yesterday in Pigeon Forge, TN.

The Aging Innovation Award recognizes a program/project that improved the lives of older adults in the community, established new partnerships, offered new/different service or program and/or is recognized in the community (by a mayor, commissioners, clubs, etc.).

The award was received by me, representing the Tennessee Arts Commission, and our program partners from the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, Amanda Boulware and Miller Arant.

We would like to thank our partners, the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, Tennessee Health Care Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Volunteer Tennessee, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Music for Seniors, Creative Aging, and SoundCorps for all their support and hard work in making this project a reality and changing the lives of Tennesseans for the better.

Rather than tell you about the impact the program has had on residents, watch the video below so you can see the impact this program is having on individuals participating in this program.

The Tennessee Federation for the Aging, Inc. (TFA) is a non-profit (501c3) charitable organization whose purpose is to enhance the general welfare of older Tennesseans and to promote civic, educational and social measures relating to the special interests of older Tennesseans.

TFA was organized in 1968 and incorporated in 1969 to secure funding for senior citizens programs and services and to serve as an advocacy group for seniors. Over the years, TFA has coordinated with various local, district and statewide organizations to provider service provider training, senior educational workshops, and advocacy to align efforts to improve the overall quality of life for older Tennesseans.
