From Shannon Ford, Director of Community Arts Development –
Local partners across the state have collected a staggering 10,542 anonymous paper and electronic audience surveys across Tennessee, representing more than 6% of the 174,530 surveys collected nationwide. In addition, Americans for the Arts has received 532 completed organizational surveys out of the 1600+ sent to Tennessee nonprofits and local entities of government in March.
These surveys will continue to be collected until June 23 as a part of the Arts & Economic Prosperity 6 study. The purpose of the study is to measure the economic impact of nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences in local communities, regions, and states nationwide.
Tennessee Arts Commission grant recipients are contractually obligated to fill out the organizational survey. Grant recipients with incomplete surveys will be sent reminder emails with each organization’s unique survey web address.
Once data collection concludes on June 23, audience and organization survey results will be compiled, analyzed, and released to local partners, Tennessee’s nine development districts, and the Tennessee Arts Commission in Autumn 2023. Each local partner will receive a customized report based on their surveys of nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences. An economic model will be tailored for each community to provide specific data about the industry’s impact on local jobs and government revenue.
